Questions are the
beginning of
everything.
Good advice starts with the right conversation. Here you'll find answers to the most important questions about working with CESCON — from first contact to mandate structure.
Collaboration
CESCON supports projects far beyond strategic analysis — from concept to operational implementation, including interim management at board and executive level. As CEO at TAG Aviation, SVP at Jet Aviation and SR Technics, and EVP at RUAG Aerospace, our founder has carried leadership responsibility himself at every stage. Mandate scope is agreed individually.
CESCON works with a broad spectrum: OEMs, airlines, MRO operators, business aviation operators, defense companies, government agencies, private equity funds and family offices. The common denominator is the need for first-class, experience-based advisory in the international aviation and defense industry.
Directly via email to info@cescon.com or by phone. An initial conversation is non-binding, confidential and typically takes 30–60 minutes. This provides a basis to jointly assess whether and in what form a collaboration makes sense.
Expertise & Experience
The core focus is on civil aviation (airlines, MRO, business aviation, OEM) and defense (military MRO, procurement, special mission). In addition, we bring experience in adjacent fields: automotive, e-aviation, private equity and family office advisory.
Over 30 years of international leadership experience — from engine engineer (BMW Rolls-Royce AeroEngines, 1992) through sales director (GE Aircraft Engines), division head (PFW Aerospace), EVP (RUAG Aerospace), SVP (Jet Aviation/General Dynamics, SR Technics) to CEO (TAG Aviation). P&L responsibility up to USD 400 million, leading up to 1,200 employees across 15 locations.
The decisive difference: our founder has personally held the positions typical consulting clients sit in, for decades — as CEO, SVP and EVP with genuine P&L responsibility. There are no generic frameworks, no junior consultants working in the background, no deck without substance. Instead: direct experience, clear recommendations and personal support through implementation.
Yes. CESCON takes on advisory board mandates for companies in the aviation and defense industry — as a strategic driver of ideas, sparring partner and network opener. Our founder brings supervisory board experience from joint ventures in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Beijing.
Markets & Regions
Through direct, long-standing experience: our founder served as Accountable Manager (BAZL, Switzerland; LBA, Germany), helped build joint venture structures in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, China and Russia, and led transactions under various national regulatory systems. CESCON navigates regulatory complexity through genuine practical experience, not theoretical analysis.
Yes, with due care. Past projects have included Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, China, Malaysia and Russia (prior to 2022). CESCON evaluates every project individually with regard to compliance, export controls and reputational risk.
CESCON is a Swiss company based in Pforzheim (Germany). Our operational reach is international: Europe (DACH, France, UK, Spain), MENA (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain), Asia (China, Malaysia) and North America.
Yes. Our founder has founded and led several joint ventures — including in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Beijing. CESCON advises on structuring, partner selection, governance and operational setup.
Mandate & Process
Phase 1: Initial conversation (non-binding, confidential) — clarifying needs and fit. Phase 2: Mandate description — goals, scope, timeline, fee structure. Phase 3: Implementation — depending on the mandate: strategic advisory, operational support or interim mandate. Phase 4: Conclusion and handover — securing results and, optionally, ongoing sparring.
This varies widely: from a focused short-term mandate (4–12 weeks) to multi-year engagements as advisory board member or strategic sparring partner. Interim mandates typically run 3–12 months.
CESCON adapts — that is the essence of experience-based advisory. When conditions change, mandate goals are jointly recalibrated. No rigid methodology that has no answer for shifting realities.
Yes. Individual coaching for executives in the aviation and defense industry — at eye level, confidential and impact-focused. Not a standard program, but tailored sparring based on 30+ years of personal experience.
Defense
Direct operational experience: as EVP at RUAG Aerospace, our founder was responsible for product support to the German Air Force and Flugbereitschaft (Oberpfaffenhofen, Stuttgart, Nordholz, Bonn, Viterbo, among others). At Jet Aviation: military special mission support (incl. VVIP). CESCON knows the specific requirements for quality, reliability and security clearance in the defense context from firsthand practice.
Yes — with an important caveat: CESCON advises companies that want to sell to military procurement bodies (OEMs, MROs, special mission operators), not governments or agencies directly. Focus areas: market positioning, OEM relationships, offer structures and network building in relevant defense markets.
As a former EVP of an organization with both civil and military product lines, our founder has navigated this tension for years — including the differing compliance, export and communication requirements involved. Dual-use and hybrid business models are not new territory.
Fees & Structure
It varies by mandate type: retainer (monthly flat fee) for ongoing engagements and advisory board mandates; project fee (fixed price or day rate) for clearly defined projects; commission or success fee for business development and sales mandates. Combinations are possible. All structures are agreed transparently in advance.
No strict minimums — but mandates under four weeks are rarely meaningful, as lasting impact takes time. For interim mandates, a minimum term of 3 months is typical to ensure continuity.
Completely. Timesheets, travel expense reports and expenses are documented in detail and billed monthly. No hidden costs, no surprises.
